Daniel de Fernando MdF Family Partners

Founding and managing partner of MdF Family Partners, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Wren Investment Office in the UK, graduated in law and business administration at Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE).

He worked at J.P.Morgan from 1988 until the end of 2002 in several responsibilities in Madrid, New York, Paris, London and Geneva. Started as fund manager and ended up as head of investments for Europe, Middle East and Asia for J.P.Morgan Private Banking, having been part of the management team of several business units and legal entities, including J.P.Morgan International Bank and J.P.Morgan Suisse.

From the beginning of 2003 until mid 2008 was global head of asset management and private banking of BBVA Group. His responsibilities included leading an asset management division with more than US$150 bn. under management in financial, private equity and real estate assets, of BBVA Suiza, S.A., and BBVA Patrimonios, recognized by Euromoney as the best private bank in Spain in January of 2008. While at BBVA he served as member of the group’s Global Business Council, and of the management committees of BBVA Spain and Portugal, and BBVA Wholesale Banking. He was chairman or director of many companies, including BBVA Asset Management, BBVA Pensiones, Gestión de Previsión y Pensiones, Altitude Investments and Proxima Alpha.

From 2011 to 2013, Daniel served as Chief Investment Officer of two “private investment offices” based in London with which MdF has maintained strategic alliances: Lord de Lord North Street Ltd. (2011 to 2013) and Wren Investment Office (2015 to 2022).

He is or has been an independent and non-executive director of several Luxembourg domiciliated SICAVs managed by Schroders, of HealthEquity S.C.R. and of a number of Cayman, Ireland and Luxembourg domiciliated funds of “hedge funds” managed by Opus and New Finance. Additionally, he has been senior advisor of Oliver Wyman and Advent International, and serves as member of the Advisory Council of Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid. Finally, he is a regular speaker at the “Private Wealth Management Spain” Seminar organized by Chicago Booth, from University of Chicago and the Foundation Numa.

Daniel is also trustee of the Foundation Tierra Santa (www.fundaciontierrasanta.es), regular contributor of the Foundation Francisco Altius de Vitoria (www.fundacionaltius.org), as well as advisor and regular contributor of the Foundation Integra (www.fundacionintegra.org).
